This past weekend was the Weekend Smutathon and while I did spend a good amount of time gardening I still managed to read 5 things! Three of the five were novellas but I still happy with what I read and I absolutely loved most of them. Also, on Saturday morning I watched CheleseaDollingReads Smutathon TBR and I added some more books to my list and actually ended up reading a few of them.

This is a short dark romance that really reminds me of Corrupt (Devil’s Night #1) by Penelope Douglas. If you have read that one and enjoyed it then I think you would really like this one. Corrupt is a bully romance and there were moments of The Dare that gave me the same vibes. The Dare though is more of a BDSM dark romance where Manson is pushing Jessica to her limits. I ended up thinking they were really sweet together and I appreciated that Manson was constantly checking in with Jessica to make sure she was ok and knew she could stop their games.

This was steamy, sexy fun. This is an introduction novella to a book series involving these characters and I bought the second book as soon as I finished this one. I enjoyed the dynamic of the three of them together but I really loved Theo and Galen. I also can’t wait to see what happens in Meg life and how she finds herself out of her troubles.

I’m sure you can tell from my rating that I really didn’t like this novella at all. I love a good forbidden age gap romance. That is probably my favorite trope when I’m reading smut but wow this just rubbed me the wrong way. It was so insta lovey and blah. I also hated how possessive he was of her which is another thing that I normally love but sometimes it comes across as creepy. And in this case it came across as super creepy. This is my first Jenika Snow so I hope that I have better luck with one of her other books.

I have put this book on so many TBR’s that I finally decided to finally read it and I’m so happy I finally did. This was the cute and fun romance that I was looking for. Meredith and Jack were such feisty characters but Jack’s grandma, Edith, is the ultimate sassy and fun character. Ever since I read A Work In Progress by Jackie Paxson I have been wanting to read another rom-com and while this one wasn’t as funny it definitely hit the spot. I also love Jack and Meredith and how they slowly became friends and then built on that.
*I also had put this book on my #Romanceopoly Readathon TBR but since I read it over the weekend I’m replacing it with The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler since that book also has blue on its cover. The Hypnotist is for the Coffee Shop space which is to read any book recommended to you in any genre.

This was such a sweet romance with the hottest sweet cinnamon roll of a hero. Our heroine is also so interesting because she is beyond super smart and was eight in high school and is the youngest heart surgeon ever. I do wish that we had gotten more of her backstory about that but I just think this was such a cute romance with unexpected characters that you don’t see that often. I also really liked that Rafe and Sloan were so great about communicating with each other and very honest about how they were feeling. This is another book that as soon as I finished I bought the second book in the series. Although, the next book is about a side character, Xeni, and she brought a lot of humor to this story so I am really looking forward to reading it.
