ARC Review: Little Creeping Things by Chelsea Ichaso

53258055._SY475_

Publication Date: June 2, 2020

Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire

Pages: 336

Genre: YA Mystery/Thriller

Rating: 4/5

This YA mystery/thriller follows Cassidy who overhears Melody, one of the girls who bullies her at school, screaming but when she goes to see what happened Melody isn’t there. Cassidy knows right away that something bad has happened to Melody but no one believes her. With a dark past that Cassidy can’t overcome and her involvement in fake planning Melody’s murder, Cassidy starts to spiral as she tries to figure out who did it and how they know her hypothetical plan.

This is a very solid YA mystery/thriller that I know so many people will enjoy. Ichaso balances the complexities of being a teenager really well with the drama of solving Melody’s disappearance. There was quite a few twists and turns in this story that I found myself guessing who did it all the way to the reveal. And the reveal did not disappoint and it was such a great ending to a well told story.

The story did start off a little slow but as the plot progressed so did my enjoyment of the story. I think for me I had no connection with the characters and I am very much a character over plot kind of a reader. So once I started to know Cassidy and the people around her I became more invested in how everything was going to play out. Cassidy also has a best friend, Gideon, and I really like how their whole subplot played out. When there wasn’t as much going on with the mystery there would be drama playing out between the two of them and it helped keep me engrossed in the book.

If you enjoy YA mystery/thrillers then I highly recommend this one to you. I feel like it is a fresh take on the genre and it isn’t afraid to show how dark people can be. I also think that if you enjoy YA contemporaries and you want to branch out a little then this would be a good one to try since it does have some teen drama in it as well as the mystery. Also, this cover is so creepy and I’m happy to say that there is an aspect of this book that deals with a creepy doll so it does tie into the story.

June TBR

This month I decided to drastically switch things up and complete redo the way I pick my TBR. I love watching TBR games on Youtube and I wanted to try to implement that on my blog so I went with what seemed easiest: a wheel. I downloaded a wheel app on my phone and added in a bunch of prompts to help me choose what to read. I have been really failing at my TBRs the last few months so I am hoping that by doing this I will actually stick to it. I also feel like I only tend to read romance and thrillers and while I love both I also enjoy a variety of genres that I am barely reading this year.  The one thing I’m not too sure about was how many spins to do. I have consistently read about twenty plus books every month but I also wanted to leave myself some space for review books and mood reads. I ended up going with 12 but I might adjust that next month depending on how things go in June. I also kept my three romanceopoly picks that I usually do because I have really been enjoying taking part in that.

Lowest Rated

*This only has a 2.70 rating on Goodreads. Which is kind of shocking since it is a classic. So I have no idea what I’m getting into with this one!

‘Reader, if you’re ready, so am I.’

These witty vignettes, set in Charlotte Brontë’s imaginary world of Angria, feature debauched aristocrats, high-society courtesans and the rakish, brooding hero Zamorna, and offer a fascinating insight into Brontë’s early writing.

One of 46 new books in the bestselling Little Black Classics series, to celebrate the first ever Penguin Classic in 1946. Each book gives readers a taste of the Classics’ huge range and diversity, with works from around the world and across the centuries – including fables, decadence, heartbreak, tall tales, satire, ghosts, battles and elephants.

Thriller

*I have a blog tour review for this that goes up on June 6 so I’m going to read this the first few days of the month.

“Spellbinding. Another outstanding novel by Kimberly Belle, masterfully written to lure you in and never let go.” – Samantha Downing, USA Today bestselling author of My Lovely Wife

When Charlotte married the wealthy widower Paul, it caused a ripple of gossip in their small lakeside town. They have a charmed life together, despite the cruel whispers about her humble past and his first marriage. But everything starts to unravel when she discovers a young woman’s body floating in the exact same spot where Paul’s first wife tragically drowned.

At first, it seems like a horrific coincidence, but the stranger in the lake is no stranger. Charlotte saw Paul talking to her the day before, even though Paul tells the police he’s never met the woman. His lie exposes cracks in their fragile new marriage, cracks Charlotte is determined to keep from breaking them in two.

As Charlotte uncovers dark mysteries about the man she married, she doesn’t know what to trust—her heart, which knows Paul to be a good man, or her growing suspicion that there’s something he’s hiding in the water.

Reverse Harem

*In the future I think I will change this to reverse harem/ menage romance since I had a hard time finding a reverse harem that is already on my TBR. This one is on Kindle Unlimited if you think it sounds good.

36826051._SY475_

I’m going to scream all five names.

When I get evicted from my apartment, I move in with my older brother in his ocean-view mansion.

And he has other guests. Five sexy-as-hell, dirty, rich guests, to be exact.

Some of them remember when I was just a little girl, and some of them only care about the woman I’ve become. But all of them keep staring at me with that look, the one that makes my whole body tremble with desire.

My brother would freak if he found out that I want to taste all of his friends, and I can’t afford to be homeless. But my five men definitely aren’t stopping.

And I can’t say no when they sneak into my room in the middle of the night, half-dressed, their hands on my skin. There might be something here, something even deeper than the way their touch pushes me to my limits.

The craziest part is, they don’t mind if they’re sharing me.

And I don’t mind getting passed between them, from one ripped guy to the next.

My Brother’s Five Friends is an over-the-top reverse harem romance with lots of steamy scenes and some bad language. It’s only recommended for readers 18+.

My Brother’s Five Friends is a STANDALONE, full-length novel. No cliffhanger. Guaranteed HEA. Includes bonus content!

Kindle Unlimited

*I put this on my TBR a couple of months ago and I never read it so I’m going to give it another shot since I have wanted to read this since it came out.

Beware of the woods and the dark, dank deep.

He’ll follow you home, and he won’t let you sleep.

Who are the Sawkill Girls?

Marion: the new girl. Awkward and plain, steady and dependable. Weighed down by tragedy and hungry for love she’s sure she’ll never find.

Zoey: the pariah. Luckless and lonely, hurting but hiding it. Aching with grief and dreaming of vanished girls. Maybe she’s broken—or maybe everyone else is.

Val: the queen bee. Gorgeous and privileged, ruthless and regal. Words like silk and eyes like knives, a heart made of secrets and a mouth full of lies.

Their stories come together on the island of Sawkill Rock, where gleaming horses graze in rolling pastures and cold waves crash against black cliffs. Where kids whisper the legend of an insidious monster at parties and around campfires.

Where girls have been disappearing for decades, stolen away by a ravenous evil no one has dared to fight… until now.

Pet Pick

*This one was pretty fun to do. I picked three books out and my kids put a treat on each one and they thought it was so funny trying to get our cat to participate. She was very confused by the whole thing but she did a great job because she picked the Literally Dead Book Club pick. So she got some extra treats and loving for doing such a great job!

52656911

Set on a remote island off the Irish coast, this is one guest list no one would want to be on, just as no one would have wanted an invitation to the New Year’s Eve party in Foley’s previous novel, The Hunting Party . Lives unravel amid the revelry on an eerie and remote island as family and friends assemble for a glam wedding in an updated Murder on the Orient Express. Each of the principal characters has a reason to want one of their number dead, there are old secrets, and one of them is murdered.

Hunter Pick

*Hunter is my eight year old and he thought it was so funny that he picked this book. I’m a little nervous about tackling it along with all the other reads I need to get done but I have been wanting to read it for so long that I am hopeful that I can get it done.

Historical Fiction

*This book I’m reading for a blog tour review post at the end of July. It will feel so good to get ahead with this one.

“Brimming with scandal and an equal amount of heart…a sweeping yet intimate look at the lives of some of history’s most notorious figures from Vanderbilts to the Prince of Wales… A must-read.”—Chanel Cleeton, New York Times bestselling author of When We Left Cuba and Next Year in Havana

“Bryn Turnbull takes a story we think we know and turns it on its head, with captivating results… A beautifully written, meticulously researched and altogether memorable debut.”—Jennifer Robson, USA TODAY bestselling author of The Gown

For fans of The Paris Wife and The Crown , this stunning novel tells the true story of the American divorcée who captured Prince Edward’s heart before he abdicated his throne for Wallis Simpson.

In the summer of 1926, when Thelma Morgan marries Viscount Duke Furness after a whirlwind romance, she’s immersed in a gilded world of extraordinary wealth and privilege. For Thelma, the daughter of an American diplomat, her new life as a member of the British aristocracy is like a fairy tale—even more so when her husband introduces her to Edward, Prince of Wales.

In a twist of fate, her marriage to Duke leads her to fall headlong into a love affair with Edward. But happiness is fleeting, and their love is threatened when Thelma’s sister, Gloria Morgan Vanderbilt, becomes embroiled in a scandal with far-reaching implications. As Thelma sails to New York to support Gloria, she leaves Edward in the hands of her trusted friend Wallis, never imagining the consequences that will follow.

Bryn Turnbull takes readers from the raucous glamour of the Paris Ritz and the French Riviera to the quiet, private corners of St. James’s Palace in this sweeping story of love, loyalty and betrayal.

*I went to my Goodreads want to read shelf and randomized it and this was the first book at the top of that list.

The bestselling debut with over a million copies sold that launched Tana French, “required reading for anyone who appreciates tough, unflinching intelligence and ingenious plotting” (The New York Times), who is “the most interesting, most important crime novelist to emerge in the past 10 years” (The Washington Post)

As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours.

Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret. But when a twelve-year-old girl is found murdered in the same woods, he and Detective Cassie Maddox—his partner and closest friend—find themselves investigating a case chillingly similar to the previous unsolved mystery. Now, with only snippets of long-buried memories to guide him, Ryan has the chance to uncover both the mystery of the case before him and that of his own shadowy past.

Richly atmospheric and stunning in its complexity, In the Woodsis utterly convincing and surprising to the end.

When her father leaves the Church in a crisis of conscience, Margaret Hale is uprooted from her comfortable home in Hampshire to move with her family to the north of England. Initially repulsed by the ugliness of her new surroundings in the industrial town of Milton, Margaret becomes aware of the poverty and suffering of the local mill workers and develops a passionate sense of social justice. This is intensified by her tempestuous relationship with the mill-owner and self-made man, John Thornton, as their fierce opposition over his treatment of his employees masks a deeper attraction.

In North and South, Elizabeth Gaskell skillfully fuses individual feeling with social concern, and in Margaret Hale creates one of the most original heroines of Victorian literature.

*I used a random color generator and it came up with a goldish yellow color. I immediately knew which book I wanted for this prompt since I meant to read it last month but never got to it.

Teaser: The Rebel by Kelsey Clayton

the-rebel6

The Rebel is the third book in a high school bully romance and it sounds all kinds of fun. This book comes out June 18 and I will have a review up for it shortly after. This post is in partnership with Wildfire Marketing who are also gifting me a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
I don’t play by the rules.
Never have, never will.

The second our eyes met from across the club,
I could feel a shift in the air—an overwhelming pull drawing me in.
One mind-blowing night is all it was, or so I thought.

Repeating my senior year may not have been the plan,
But finding out my one-night stand is my new teacher—
That’s something I never saw coming.

His gaze bores into me with the same intensity.
That body, those hands, I remember every touch.
I should stay away, but I don’t want to.

This time, all bets are off.
I’ll let him think he’s in control,
Until I bring him to his knees.

Passion and fire,
Forbidden and wrong.
Like I said, I don’t play by the rules.

Untouch Me by Hayley Faiman

Untouch-Me-FB-banner

I’m excited to be bringing you my review of Untouch Me courtesy of Wildfire Marketing who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I love an MC (motorcycle club) romance so this is obviously right up my alley.

UnTouch-Me-ebook

BLURB

Twenty-two and only loved one man, Trista left the Savage Beasts and Arizona to start over. Knowing the man she loved would never return those feelings, she could be his plaything, nothing more.

She should be living life free and single in the City of Angels. What she shouldn’t be doing is craving the touch of the man she left behind.

Sergeant-at-Arms for the Savage Beast MC has its perks: guns, ammo, and women. Taz loves spending his time with all three, liberally.

At forty-four-years-old, he never thought he wanted to settle down. Not even when a little spitfire worms her way into his bed and his heart. As his MC brother’s daughter, she should be untouchable—but he craves to touch her.

Two hearts fighting. Two hearts resisting the love they deserve. Neither innocent. Both craving one another’s touch. Both unable to resist.

Two people who are separated by over twenty years and lifetimes of pain and memories, yet when they are together, nothing can keep them apart, not even their own good sense.

Review

If you love smut then this book is one you need to pick up. It is a dark romance with characters that I couldn’t help but fall for despite the fact that all the pretty much do is have sex with each other. I love MC romances for the action (and the smut!) and this book did not have a lot of that. What it does have though is a beautiful, although very messed up, romance between our hero and heroine. I also really liked the side characters that were introduced and I can’t wait to learn more about them in future books. The action that this book did have was great and I really liked where the story is going. I can’t wait for the next book in this series and I have my fingers crossed that it will be a certain character’s (I don’t want to spoil anything) romance. This is the first book that I have picked up in this series and while it can definitely be read as a stand alone I still want to go back and read the previous ones. Keep scrolling to read an excerpt of the prologue and see for yourself how spicy Trista and Taz can be!

EXCERPT

Glancing around the room, I look to see if anyone is watching me. Eagle’s eyes are focused on me, but he shifts his gaze as soon as mine connects with his. He always watches. It would be creepy, except his gaze isn’t anything other than assessing.

Inhaling a shaky breath, I grip my beer bottle tightly and follow behind Taz’s path. The hall is dark, but I see him immediately. He’s next to his bedroom door, his back pressed against the wall, a bottle of beer dangling loosely from his fingers.

Making my way down the hall, I stop in front of him, my body close enough to touch his, but far enough away that I’m not touching him. He clears his throat and my gaze flicks up to his. His head is dipped, his eyelids lowered as he looks down on me.

“This don’t mean nothin’ except I want inside your sweet little body, Tris,” he crudely reminds me, just like he does every time I’ve been with him since that first time.

I roll my eyes. “You’ve mistaken me for one of your town girls, Taz,” I breathe.

He snorts. “Doubt that.”

Lifting my hand, I place my palm against his chest, my eyes focused on his, never leaving them. “Never doubt me, Taz. I was born into this life, into this world. I am not one of your innocent girls. I’ve seen a lot in my twenty-one years.”

He lifts his own arm, placing his palm over the back of my hand, his eyes so focused, black and liquid as they search my own.

“Know you ain’t innocent, Tris. Also know you’re not some hardened bitch either. Seen you through the years. Seen the way Silver has always protected you. You’re all soft under there, makes my dick hard, babe.”

Teaser! Like You Hurt by Kaydence Snow

1 (1)

A few weeks ago I read and reviewed the first book in this series and I’m so excited for the second book to come out. Donna was one of my favorite characters from the previous book and I can’t wait to read this one next month. Thank you to Wildfire Marketing for working with me on this post.

Like You Hurt by Kaydence Snow is #comingJune18th

Donna

What kind of idiot gets on my bad side on his first day at my school? Hendrix Hawthorn is arrogant, cocky, infuriatingly attractive and clearly doesn’t realise I can make his life hell.

Which is exactly what I intend to do… until he shows up in the one place no one knows I go to – the one place that makes me feel alive. Now my reputation is in his hands, but I’ll be damned if I go down without a fight.

Hendrix

What kind of spoiled brat thinks I’ll just fall at her feet like the rest of these jerks? Donna Mead is a stone-cold bitch and I don’t want anything to do with her or her friends.

It’s bad enough I have to finish senior year at Fulton Academy – exactly the kind of place where I made the single biggest mistake of my life. I just want to keep my head down, get decent grades… until she shows up where she doesn’t belong. Now I can’t seem to stop myself from trying to prevent Donna from ruining her life like I did.

WWW Wednesday: 5/27/20

img_1384-0

I can’t believe that this is the last Wednesday of May. June is my absolute favorite month of the year and it’s almost here! I know I have mentioned it before but I cannot wait for distance learning to be over. One of my sons has been able to transition well to it but my other one has really struggled and we just can’t wait to be done. Although, we have no idea what the new school year will bring but at the very least we get a couple of months off. But anyways, lets get to talking about what books I have been reading recently. This weekly meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and all you need to do is answer the three W questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I was half way through Little Creeping Things when my Kindle died so I picked up The Last Mrs. Parrish and I am so hooked on it that I don’t want to put it down. The way the book starts off is so good with a narrator that we know is up to no good. I am also really loving Little Creeping Things because I am half way through the story and I have no idea where it’s going to go. I also feel like every character could be the one behind everything which is always fun to see who it actually ends up being.

What did you recently finish reading?

These are the three books that I have finished this week. I finished Wundersmith on Sunday and then immediately picked up and read To Night Owl from Dogfish. I then read Claimed By A Steele and it ended up being my favorite of Brenda Jackson’s Steele series (that I have read).

Believathon Wrap Up

Blog Tour: Claimed by a Steele by Brenda Jackson

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’m not sure which one of these I will be picking up next but I feel like they will both be quick reads. I have been wanting to read Dark Notes for such a long time and it is one of my picks for Romanceopoly this month. A Reasonable Doubt is one of the Netgalley books I really wanted to get to this month. It is the third Robin Lockwood novel and they are quick paced crime thrillers that I really enjoy.

Review

This is a sexy romance that I really loved. I flew through this book in a couple of hours because I was so caught up in Gannon and Delphine’s love story. I really love romances where the characters are upfront about their feelings/attraction for each other and this book had that. I also love that we got to see Gannon’s illustrious family but the main part of this story was the connection between our hero and heroine. This book also deals a lot with truck drivers and that industry which I thought was very interesting. I’m pretty sure this is the last book in Jackson’s Steele series and it was the perfect way to end it. Although, I do hope that we get to see more of these characters one way or another in her future books. Don’t forget to keep scrolling for a glimpse of the intense connection Delphine and Gannon have!

Excerpt, CLAIMED BY A STEELE by Brenda Jackson

“Mr. Steele has arrived, Ms. Ryland, and he’s ready to see you.”

Delphine smiled over at Gannon’s secretary, not sure if she was ready to see him. “Thanks.”

In reality, she’d already seen him. From where she sat in the lobby, she had a good view of the parking lot. She had known the exact moment Gannon had parked his car in his designated CEO spot, and later entered the building through a side door.

She had sat there fascinated by seeing him wearing a dark suit and could barely keep her heart from racing. The man looked good no matter what he wore. Drawing in a deep breath, she stood and headed down the long corridor to his office. When she reached the closed door bearing his name in huge print, she in-haled and then exhaled before knocking.

“Come in, Ms. Ryland.”

He’d called her “Ms. Ryland” instead of “Delphine.” Did that mean they were back to being for-mal again? Was that how it was supposed to work when he was in more businesslike attire? she wondered. She would find out soon enough and decided to follow his lead.

When she opened the door, their gazes connected.

For a second, Delphine felt weak in the knees. He stood when she walked in and she immediately noticed that he had removed his jacket and loosened the tie around his neck. And, of course, she didn’t miss the one button at the top of his white dress shirt that was undone. Why did seeing him so relaxed have an effect on her?

But then, she could say the same for him. He was staring at her the same way she was staring at him. She knew she was fully dressed and the last time she checked her hair was in place. What was going on here?

She knew the answer. Lust. Something she definitely wasn’t used to. It was kicking both their butts. Lustful vibes had been strong yesterday, but they were even stronger today.

That wasn’t good. Whenever he looked at her, she got overheated. Today his look was almost setting her on fire. This was her last day and she needed to take control of the situation or burn to a crisp right in front of him.

Clearing her throat, she said, “I hope things went well at the meeting you had this morning with your shipper.”

As if the sound of her voice broke whatever spell he’d been in, he blinked and then said, “Yes, they did.” Then, shoving his hands into his pockets, he added, “However, there’s a matter I need to handle.”

She nodded. “I understand. I can come back—” “No. Let’s wrap things up with the interview now because I’ll be busy for the rest of the day.”

Was that his way of letting her know he was tired of this process? Tired of her doing the interview? More than anything, she wanted to believe his change in attitude had nothing to do with her, but was connected somehow to that meeting he’d had earlier.

“I’ll be quick,” she said, taking the chair in front of his desk. The same one she’d sat in yesterday. “I just have a few more questions.”

“Fine,” he said, moving to sit down at his desk. “Ask away.”

Believathon Wrap Up

Yesterday the Believathon  wrapped up and it was a sort of fail for me. I basically didn’t read any middle grade the first week and a half of the readathon so everything that I finished was during the last few days. But I did read a book that I absolutely loved and I probably never would have picked it up if it hadn’t been for the readathon. My son and I are also really close to finishing A City of Ghosts by V.E. Schwab and we are both really loving it a lot. So I finished two (almost three!) things which isn’t too bad.

Just like the first book I am absolutely blown away by the world building. It is so detailed and magically fun that I just want to keep reading the series to see more of the world. But also like the first book I found most of the plot to be predictable. Granted this is a book for 12 year olds but it is still disappointing to figure out most of the story early on. I am excited for the third book and just based off the synopsis I think it will be my favorite one so far.

I love everything about this book. The characters are fun and interesting, the story kept surprising me, and the message of this book was beautiful. I also love that this book is told completely through email and traditional letters. It is such a brilliant way to tell this story because I feel like if it had been told in a more traditional way a lot of the magic of this book would have been lost. I also applaud the authors because they told this story with authentic preteen girl voices and I was completely immersed in Bett and Avery’s world. The authors also did a fabulous job of differentiating both girls writing style and I quickly learned who was who. I grew up with the movie The Parent Trap and I never liked it because it is completely nonsensical. This book is like what that movie should have been but with a much better message. Also, my son got this from the library right before the pandemic but I am buying this ASAP because I can see myself rereading this in the future. Which might be a weird thing for an almost 34 year old to say but seriously that’s how much I love this book.

On My Radar: June 2020

I’m especially excited about all the new releases coming in June since it is such a thriller heavy month. There are honestly so many good ones coming out… including the new Riley Sager! There are also a few romances on this list as well as a couple of emotional family dramas. I love the summer months and I can’t wait to just relax with a good book and not have to worry about distance learning for at least the next couple of months.

As always all info for this post was taken from Goodreads and because of the global situation all dates are subject to change.

That is, until Henry “Harry” Sinclair III comes crashing back into my world like a bad case of herpes.⁣

I hate the way Harry’s lip curls in contempt whenever he sees me. I hate his bright blue eyes and those inexplicably offensive dimples. I hate his stuffy English accent and the stick that’s permanently jammed up his aristocratic ass. More than anything, I hate that he’s now my boss.⁣

But my professional prospects start to look up when a chance at writing Visage’s big summer feature falls into my lap. Success won’t be easy. ⁣I’ll need to let go of all my inhibitions—not that I have that many of those—and jump, stiletto heels first, into a hedonistic new world. An exclusive, secretive world, filled with leather, latex, and Manhattan’s elite.⁣

Talia Hibbert returns with another charming romantic comedy about a young woman who agrees to fake date her friend after a video of him “rescuing” her from their office building goes viral…

Danika Brown knows what she wants: professional success, academic renown, and an occasional roll in the hay to relieve all that career-driven tension. But romance? Been there, done that, burned the T-shirt. Romantic partners, whatever their gender, are a distraction at best and a drain at worst. So Dani asks the universe for the perfect friend-with-benefits—someone who knows the score and knows their way around the bedroom.

“No list of thrillers is complete without Robyn Harding,” proclaims Real Simple. Now the USA TODAY bestselling author of The Party delivers a riveting tale about the toxic relationship between two couples after a night of sexual shenanigans, and the manipulative teenager with an explosive secret at the center of it all.

Low Morrison is not your average teen. You could blame her hippie parents or her looming height or her dreary, isolated hometown on an island in the Pacific Northwest. But whatever the reason, Low just doesn’t fit in—and neither does Freya, an ethereal beauty and once-famous social media influencer who now owns the local pottery studio.

After signing up for a class, Low quickly falls under Freya’s spell. And Freya, buoyed by Low’s adoration, is compelled to share her darkest secrets and deepest desires. Finally, both feel a sense of belonging…that is, until Jamie walks through the studio door. Desperate for a baby, she and her husband have moved to the island hoping that the healthy environment will result in a pregnancy. Freya and Jamie become fast friends, as do their husbands, leaving Low alone once again.

Then one night, after a boozy dinner party, Freya suggests swapping partners. It should have been a harmless fling between consenting adults, one night of debauchery that they would put behind them, but instead, it upends their lives. And provides Low the perfect opportunity to unleash her growing resentment.

Robyn Harding brings her acclaimed storytelling, lauded as “fast-paced, thrilling, gut-wrenching” by Taylor Jenkins Reid, New York Times bestselling author of Daisy Jones & The Six, to this dark and suspenseful thriller for fans of Megan Miranda and Lisa Jewell.

In this propulsive debut novel about the dark side of female friendship, old habits give way to obsession and betrayal when a young woman reconnects with her estranged childhood best friend.

At age thirty, Rose is fierce and smart, both self-aware and singularly blind to her power over others. When she moves to New York, she is unexpectedly swallowed up by her past, reuniting with Lacie, the former best friend she betrayed in high school. Captivated once again by her old friend’s strange charisma, Rose convinces Lacie to let her move in, and the two, now roommates, fall into an intense, uneasy friendship.

While tutoring the offspring of Manhattan’s wealthy elite, Rose works on a novel she keeps secret–because it stars Lacie, and details the betrayal that almost turned deadly. But the difference between fiction and fact, past and present, begins to blur, and soon Rose finds herself increasingly drawn to Lacie’s boyfriend, exerting a sexual power she barely understands she has, and playing a risky game that threatens to repeat the worst moments of her and Lacie’s lives.

Sharp-witted and wickedly addictive, Everyone Knows How Much I Love You is a singularly dark entry into the canon of psychologically rich novels of friendship, compulsive behavior, and the dangerous reverberations of our actions, both large and small.

Inspired by a true story, this haunting debut novel pieces together a chorus of voices to explore the aftermath of a college student’s death.

On a cold day in 1997, student Sara Morgan was killed in the woods surrounding her liberal arts college in upstate New York. Her boyfriend, Blake Campbell, confessed, his plea of temporary insanity raising more questions than it answered.

In the wake of his acquittal, the case comes to haunt a strange and surprising network of community members, from the young woman who discovers Sara’s body to the junior reporter who senses its connection to convicted local serial killer John Logan. Others are looking for retribution or explanation: Sara’s half sister, stifled by her family’s bereft silence about Blake, poses as a babysitter and seeks out her own form of justice, while the teenager Sara used to babysit starts writing to Logan in prison.

A propulsive, taut tale of voyeurism and obsession, Nothing Can Hurt You dares to examine gendered violence not as an anomaly, but as the very core of everyday life. Tracing the concentric circles of violence rippling out from Sara’s murder, Nicole Maye Goldberg masterfully conducts an unforgettable chorus of disparate voices.

In the latest thriller from New York Times bestseller Riley Sager, a woman returns to the house made famous by her father’s bestselling horror memoir. Is the place really haunted by evil forces, as her father claimed? Or are there more earthbound—and dangerous—secrets hidden within its walls?

What was it like? Living in that house.

Maggie Holt is used to such questions. Twenty-five years ago, she and her parents, Ewan and Jess, moved into Baneberry Hall, a rambling Victorian estate in the Vermont woods. They spent three weeks there before fleeing in the dead of night, an ordeal Ewan later recounted in a nonfiction book called House of Horrors. His tale of ghostly happenings and encounters with malevolent spirits became a worldwide phenomenon, rivaling The Amityville Horror in popularity—and skepticism.

Today, Maggie is a restorer of old homes and too young to remember any of the events mentioned in her father’s book. But she also doesn’t believe a word of it. Ghosts, after all, don’t exist. When Maggie inherits Baneberry Hall after her father’s death, she returns to renovate the place to prepare it for sale. But her homecoming is anything but warm. People from the past, chronicled in House of Horrors, lurk in the shadows. And locals aren’t thrilled that their small town has been made infamous thanks to Maggie’s father. Even more unnerving is Baneberry Hall itself—a place filled with relics from another era that hint at a history of dark deeds. As Maggie experiences strange occurrences straight out of her father’s book, she starts to believe that what he wrote was more fact than fiction.
