Review
I recently read and loved the third book in this series, The Rebel by Kelsey Clayton and I was really looking forward to this book. Lennon was a standout in The Rebel so I went into this book already knowing that I loved her. While, I still really like Lennon and it is easy to connect with her, I had a much harder time with the hero of our story, Cade. There were moments of this story were he was so swoon worthy but he definitely had moments where he was a complete asshole. Which also makes the ending when all the walls are broken down that much sweeter but it was a rough ride to get there. I also didn’t love the writing as much in this book as I did in The Rebel. There were lots of times where the story really flowed but there was an equal amount of times where it was stilted. I will say though, that despite the critiques I just gave, the back and forth tension between Cade and Lennon was HOT. The sexual tension rolls off them and I appreciated that the other characters in the book felt it too. If you are in the market for an angsty, drama filled New Adult romance with characters that have a fun and spicy intense connection than I definitely recommend this book to you. Also, I would just like to put in my request here, that the world needs a Colby romance and I hope so much that Clayton gives it to us!
