Review
Kitty Valentine is such a fun and interesting character. I love that she is a romance writer and she felt so authentic, like we are getting a real look at how romance author’s think and their process. I also love that there were times in the story that we got to “read” the book Kitty Valentine was working on. I love books within books so that was such a fun surprise.
This book is marketed as a standalone and while it can definitely be read like that I feel like I would have gotten more out of it if I had read the first book in the series. There is no build up to the story so we are just dumped in to the action right off the bat. It wasn’t hard to get into the story but I guess I’m just so used to the usual formula of introducing the characters and the plot.
The romance in this book was also interesting because by the very premise of this series we know that she has a wheel of professions she is aiming to date. It was still fun to see Kitty Valentine go on dates and see them play out. I also think the book gave a great look at what some red flags are when dating. Usually romances have people who like/love each other and this series is about Kitty going through some frogs to find her prince.
This was a fun, light hearted romance that I think people who like that exact thing will really enjoy. In fact, this whole series just seems so fun and I love that Dodd is taking us on this journey with Kitty Valentine. I already have my fingers crossed for the ending I want for her so I guess I will have to keep reading to see if my wish comes true!
