ABOUT THE BOOK

Donna

What kind of idiot gets on my bad side on his first day at my school? Hendrix Hawthorn is arrogant, cocky, infuriatingly attractive and clearly doesn’t realise I can make his life hell.

Which is exactly what I intend to do… until he shows up in the one place no one knows I go to – the one place that makes me feel alive. Now my reputation is in his hands, but I’ll be damned if I go down without a fight.

Hendrix

What kind of spoiled brat thinks I’ll just fall at her feet like the rest of these jerks? Donna Mead is a stone-cold bitch and I don’t want anything to do with her or her friends.

It’s bad enough I have to finish senior year at Fulton Academy – exactly the kind of place where I made the single biggest mistake of my life. I just want to keep my head down, get decent grades… until she shows up where she doesn’t belong. Now I can’t seem to stop myself from trying to prevent Donna from ruining her life like I did.

Review

I really enjoyed the first book in this series but I loved this one so much. I really love that all the threads of story that were told in the first one were also in this book even though it didn’t have as much to do with the main story. The big one being the cult subplot that is going on in Devilbend and I can’t wait to see where that story is going to lead. This is also a fantastic enemies to lover slow burn romance. And I mean slow burn. Donna and Hendrick kept going one step forward two steps back for a large portion of the story and I was dying for them to finally get together. They are both amazing characters that I fell in love with almost instantly.

Donna is such a great female character who is really just a mix of my favorite twins, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield from Sweet Valley High. Obviously this book is a lot darker and realistc than that series but Donna reminds me so much of them. I don’t know how many kids in high school are reading smutty books but Donna is a character that I think a lot of seniors in high school will relate to. All the the pressure to start working on your forever life now so you have to get the perfect grades and do everything just right and never falter. However, unlike most (or any) seniors in high school Donna balances out this heavy load she carries by secretly going to a dangerous dive bar to dance and hook up with guys. I really liked the two different sides of her personality and Snow did a wonderful job making Donna feel so three dimensional.

Hendrick made me swoon so many times in this story. He is such a brooding character with a past he is trying to keep secret because of a tragic mistake that he made. Hendrick understands Donna more than anyone else because he recognizes part of himself in her and that was my favorite part of this romance. Their intense connection with each other despite them not liking each other at first and then slowly opening up together is what made this book perfection for me. Also, Hendrick is just a sweet cinnamon roll of a guy and I loved the way he treated Donna.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series to come out and I have my fingers crossed for who’s book it will be. Also, like I mentioned above there are so many tendrils of story happening that I just want to know if and how they are all going to connect together. I don’t know how many books are planned in this series but I know that I will read every single one because I am obsessed with the world of Devilbend.
