This has been an extremely busy summer but I’m actually staying home this week and don’t have any appointments so I will be finishing up a couple of blog posts I’ve been working on. The first one being my second weekly report which I’ve finally finished. And the next is my mid year freakout tag which I’m halfway done with.

The Raven Scholar is absolutely incredible. It has everything in it that I adore with characters that will stick with me forever. I’m so sad that the next book in the series comes out October next year but I also want Hodgson to have all the time she needs to write the perfect sequel to this.
Keeper of the Lost Cities is one of my oldest son’s favorites series so I have been listening to them at work over the last year or so. Last week I listened to Unraveled so now I’m officially all caught up on the series. This is a fun series and I really like the directions it has taken. There’s still at least another year until book 10 comes out but it feels good to be all caught up on a long series.
DNF
I’m a serial DNF’er and I will put a book down one chapter in or 90% through if I’m no longer enjoying myself. But just because I’m not enjoying myself doesn’t mean that the books that I put down are bad. I have hundreds, if not thousands, of books that I want to read so it’s easy for me to put down a book that isn’t making me eager to pick it up.
Some Kind of Haunted and Ruckus both had slow moving plots with characters I didn’t feel connected to. Some Kind of Haunted comes out the end of next month and does have great fall vibes. One of my goals is to read LJ Shen’s backlist and I usually devour her books in one or two sittings but I spent four or five days reading this and only made it to 35%. I will probably wait until next month to pick up the next book in the Sinners of Saint series.
Currently Reading
I’ve read just over 100 pages of Paradise and I love how this story is being told. It’s like a puzzle trying to figure out how every new character introduced fits into the event that started the book.
Cards on the Table is my new Netgalley read. I’ve only read the first chapter but so far I’m intrigued by the characters and the direction the story is taking. I don’t read synopsis but I do skim them when I’m emailed arc’s and I think this is the one that has a locked room mystery.
Ours is a Tale of Murder is the book that I’m listening to at work. I can’t remember what put it on my radar but is a difficult listen. I’m enjoying the potential of the story but it is full of terrible abusive red pill men. And since this is a multi perspective thriller we are in the head of a couple of them and it’s off putting. I’m almost at the halfway point and I keep listening because I want to know what the twist is.
