July TBR

Oh my gosh y’all, I had a whole TBR that I put together over the weekend and today (Tuesday, June 30) I was watching Riley Marie’s TBR and I learned of a monthlong Pop Culture Readathon that feels like it was made for me. Okay so that’s an obvious exaggeration, but this round is based on the 90’s and one of the bingo boards you can play is Thrillers. What! 90’s thrillers, scary movies, whatever you want to call them are my jam and I love them so much. One of my all time favorite movies is Scream (or all of them really) and I could gush for ages about all the other amazing movies that came out at this time. Uh, hello I Know What You Did Last Summer (iconic). So, as you can tell, I was so excited that I immediately started working on my new July TBR. Before I get into that though, the link for the readathon’s twitter is linked above and you can find more info, including the four boards you can play on. The four boards are thriller, teen, family, and adult. So, there really is something for everyone and since I am posting this on the 1st there is plenty of time for you to join in, if it sounds fun to you!

I will also be participating in Becca’s Bookopoly 48 readathon this month but I will have a separate post for that up closer to the starting date. Also, I had a really hard time narrowing down just one book for each prompt so I might be rereading some of the prompts during the month. I have put all the prompts on my wheel app and I will be spinning it to choose each book I read this month. If a prompt comes up and I have another book that I want to read for it (ex, The Faculty) I will just leave it on the wheel so I can potentially read it again. I hope that made sense! For the sake of time I will only be sharing the first book I plan to read for the prompts and we can go over what I read for each one during my wrap up. I have a few other books that I want/need to read this month so I probably won’t be reading all the prompts but I do hope to get at least one bingo during the month.

Buffy the vampire slayer

*I don’t think this one has the chosen one trope but the first one did and I have really been wanting to read this so I’m bending the rules for this one.

Rowan has gone rogue, and has taken it upon himself to put the Scythedom through a trial by fire. Literally. In the year since Winter Conclave, he has gone off-grid, and has been striking out against corrupt scythes—not only in MidMerica, but across the entire continent. He is a dark folk hero now—“Scythe Lucifer”—a vigilante taking down corrupt scythes in flames.

Citra, now a junior scythe under Scythe Curie, sees the corruption and wants to help change it from the inside out, but is thwarted at every turn, and threatened by the “new order” scythes. Realizing she cannot do this alone—or even with the help of Scythe Curie and Faraday, she does the unthinkable, and risks being “deadish” so she can communicate with the Thunderhead—the only being on earth wise enough to solve the dire problems of a perfect world. Calling the corners

*I’m kind of cheating with this pick too. I only have around 200 pages left of this book but it has both fire and water elements so it’s perfect for this prompt.

*My second favorite genre is romance.
