ACOTAR 6 & 7

Slight spoilers for the Maasverse ahead!

After months of radio silence after the announcement of three new books in the ACOTAR series we finally got cover reveals and synopsis (shared below). When I first heard these books were coming I was so excited and then during the months of quiet and the publisher announcing new covers for the original books I became less and less excited. However, after seeing the symbols on these covers and the subtitles I’m back to being hyped!

The symbol on A Court of Splintered harmony reminds me of Bryaxis who we know from the ACOTAR series. BUT the symbol on A Court of Forgotten Memory reminds me of the Stygian spiders from Throne of Glass. House of Flame and Shadow (Crescent City #3) had elements of Throne of Glass but I feel like we are finally going to understand how the multiverse works. Maybe not fully in these books but hopefully in the next book that’s still coming. Which I don’t think we will see anything about until after A Court of Forgotten Memory comes out. Also, we found out about Valkyrie’s in the A Court of Silver Flames who I think are connected to the Thirteen in Throne of Glass.

As for the titles and color choices of the books I’m less excited. The ACOTAR book’s acronym’s roll out of the tongue and these just feel so out of place. I also hate the colors and the gradient is like a cheap version of what the Empyrean series does so well.

I was always planning on rereading the entire Maasverse but then I put it off because I was pretty put off by Bloomsbury rereleasing the ACOTAR covers…. again. However, as of today I’m back in. I’m going to start by immersive reading them so I can annotate. But if I start to run out time since I’m starting my rereads two and a halfish month’s from release date I’ll just stick to audio so I can listen at work. I will be using Kaila.books on Instagram’s reading order which means I’m starting with ACOTAR later today.

What was broken will be remade.

Deep in the heart of the continent, Koschei the Deathless is stirring. Though he’s been bound to a mountain lake for millennia, the insidious threat of his return now spreads across the Fae territories, attracting powerful allies hell-bent on reclaiming what was once theirs: the human lands.

The Night Court will not stand idly by while innocents are attacked. But with Prythian still piecing itself together in the wake of the devastating Hybern War, the task of uniting is proving more difficult by the day.

To make matters worse, those who rule and protect the Night Court are reeling from recent betrayals and revealed truths. The rifts dividing them seem insurmountable.

But to defeat Koschei’s creeping shadow, they must find a way back to each other and resurrect their former alliances. To survive, they must find a way to repair the splintered harmony all around them.

What was lost will be reclaimed.

Prythian might never be the same again. Traditional alliances are crumbling, and no amount of diplomacy seems sufficient to repair them. With the continued threat of Koschei the Deathless on the horizon, a united front is crucial–and farther out of reach than it has ever been before.

Bonds will be tested. Power will shift. And old enemies will emerge from nightmares of the past.

As the Night Court’s Inner Circle disperses far and wide, desperate for any advantage against Koschei and his mighty allies, peace hangs by a fragile thread. But hope can be spun from the darkest of shadows, and the Night Court has its own part to play in the looming crescendo.
