Murder in the Upper Crust is the sixth book in the Deep Dish cozy mystery series that follows Chef Delilah who owns a pizza shop in Wisconsin. As with every great cozy her boyfriend is a cop and they somewhat infiltrate a wellness retreat to solve the murder of an attendee. The wellness retreat is being held nearby at the estate of Delia’s ex fiancé’s new girlfriend. And the wellness guru’s assistant is of course dating Delilah’s best friend and fellow chef, Sonya. This cast of characters kept the story interesting with plenty of suspects and possible motives. I also enjoyed the deeper meaning of the story about perfectionism and how it has both positive and negative sides.

Delilah was an interesting character to follow but I don’t know if I necessarily liked her. She could be quite judgey so sometimes I enjoyed being in her head and other times I didn’t. I also wish this book had leaned more into the food aspect of being a cozy mystery. Often times the food and recipes are a bigger part of the story but in this case it felt like an afterthought.

Overall this was a good time and definitely one that I recommend for the cozy mystery lovers. I also appreciate that this book had more than one recipe at the end and I will definitely by trying the lemony white pizza with burrata and hot honey.
