I’m back to continue catching up with all my Kindle purchases from when I stopped posting regularly in June and July. I’m currently caught up to the last day of June and then there is still all of July to get caught up on. The great news is that I only bought a quite small amount of books in August so I’m pretty proud of myself. There is nothing like falling behind on these posts and finding out what a ebook hoarder you are! Although, the more likely reason is that I have found a love of audiobooks and so I have been digesting most of my books by listening to them which has made the book buying itch pretty much go away.
A haunting, edge-of-your-seat psychological thriller about a woman who has been institutionalized for a heinous crime, and the psychiatrist assigned to her case who must uncover the truth beneath the madness.
How close do you get before it’s too late…?
Working as a dedicated forensic psychiatrist for many years, Emma is not shocked so easily. Then she is assigned to work with Connie, a wife and mother accused of a despicable crime. Connie is suffering from dissociative amnesia—or at least seems to be.
Now it is up to Emma to decide whether Connie can stand trial for her sins. But there is something about Connie that inexorably pulls Emma into her orbit. Perhaps it is the way she seems to see right through Emma, speaking to Emma’s deepest insecurities about her life, marriage, and her own tragic past. And soon Emma begins to understand how Connie’s complicated marriage and toxic relationship with her beautiful best friend Ness could have driven Connie to snap—or maybe, she is simply getting too close to a woman who is unforgivable…
Alternating between the two women’s points of view, before and after Connie’s breakdown, Too Close is a masterfully written page turner about the powerful—yet dangerous—closeness between women.
What would you change if you could go back in time?
In a small back alley in Tokyo, there is a café which has been serving carefully brewed coffee for more than one hundred years. But this coffee shop offers its customers a unique experience: the chance to travel back in time.
In Before the Coffee Gets Cold, we meet four visitors, each of whom is hoping to make use of the café’s time-travelling offer, in order to: confront the man who left them, receive a letter from their husband whose memory has been taken by early onset Alzheimer’s, to see their sister one last time, and to meet the daughter they never got the chance to know.
But the journey into the past does not come without risks: customers must sit in a particular seat, they cannot leave the café, and finally, they must return to the present before the coffee gets cold . . .
Toshikazu Kawaguchi’s beautiful, moving story explores the age-old question: what would you change if you could travel back in time? More importantly, who would you want to meet, maybe for one last time?
PART ONE OF THE OBSESSION SERIES (PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS THE BLACK LETTERS SERIES) Grand Rapids was my saving grace. My new job and my best friend kept me grounded, and far away from my past. This was my new life. And I was safe. But then I was transferred to Miami where I began working with Mitch Conklin, the site manager. He was sexy as sin, and irritating as hell. He drove me crazy, but I couldn’t deny the chemistry. He was begging for me to take his bait, and I wanted to… Until he found me. My heart raced… My palms began to sweat… And the air was stolen from my lungs. -Brooke Page not only delivers a suspenseful, erotic tale, but balances it incredibly well with a refreshing amount of humor and heart break. I’m excited for book 2, eager to discover what’s next for Mitch and Jamie.- -USA Today & New York Times Bestselling Author Angela Graham -Hide by Brooke Page is a great example of what romantic suspense should be. The plot is intriguing, keeping you on the edge of your seat, while also giving you two main characters that you know will be great together. This story had me furiously flipping the pages, needing to know what was going to happen next, and I’m still dying to know. This is a great read that I’d definitely recommend.– Amazon Bestselling Author Isabel Lucero -If you enjoy your Romantic Suspense novels with a little sass, a lot of heat, and plenty of twists, Hide is for you.– Sara Mack – I knew from her first book that she was an extremely gifted story teller, but I’ve got to say that she grabbed me hook, line and sinker from cover to cover with this one. This book is Romantic Suspense at its finest. Not to mention all of the sassy wit, loving romance and smoldering passion between the two main characters.– Hooker Heels Book Blog -The suspense in this book was well written. As a reader you were captured in the moment and the need to know what had happened to lead everyone to where they were. The way that Brooke wove the story of Jamie’s past through what was happening in the present grabbed me throughout the entire book.- Red Hot Romance

Sadie O’Connor had successfully avoided Gage Montgomery for years. Hell, she was practically a ninja at avoiding him. And if it weren’t for a stray dog, some barbed wire, and the giant gash across her left ass cheek (long story), she might’ve been able to go on avoiding him. But now Gage—the sexiest, grumpiest jerk she’s ever laid eyes on—is right here, within reach. And it’s not long before her heart’s ready to hurl itself at him. Again. Too bad she can’t afford to trust her heart. Not after what happened the last time…
Gage certainly wasn’t expecting to come face-to-face—or, face-to-ass, he supposed—with Sadie again, either. Their smokin’ physical chemistry had been complicated when they first met. (Mostly because she’d been engaged to his cousin at the time. But that’s another story…) Now Gage knows exactly what he wants, and that’s Sadie—in his arms, in his bed, forever. All he has to do is convince the woman of his dreams to un-friend zone him once and for all…
But before Gage and Sadie can figure out how to stow their emotional baggage and move forward together, they have to deal with a crazy pregnant lady, Gage’s even crazier family, and the re-appearance of a particularly pesky ghost from Sadie’s past.
Looks like things might get even more complicated this time around…
You Wrecked Me is book 2 in the You Complicate Me duet but can be read as a standalone. Not intended for anyone who doesn’t like characters who cuss, tons of nerdy pop culture references, and all manner of familial silliness. For the rest of you, happy reading!

More than that, she gives him hope that he can receive forgiveness of his past – and perhaps even love. I have loved Channing Monroe all my life.
In first grade, he asked for my Trapper Keeper.
I hit him in the head with it.
Third grade, we were best friends. We kissed in seventh grade.
Eighth grade, he turned into a bad boy and the rest was a tumultuous storm.
Growing up, the problem was never love for us.
Bad times. Good times. There were times when I felt our love in every inch of my body, vibrating, making me feel like it could bring me back to life.
The problem was us.
The problem is that we’re living in two different worlds now.
Fallen Crest and its millionaires for me. Roussou and their criminals for him. I was thriving in mine and he was running his.
But there were nights I felt we couldn’t be further apart than we were, and there were nights I felt we shared the same heartbeat.
When was it time?
When was it time to either sacrifice, make a change, or walk away from the boy I grew up with?

The little town of Castle Rock, Maine has witnessed some strange events and unusual visitors over the years, but there is one story that has never been told… until now.
There are three ways up to Castle View from the town of Castle Rock: Route 117, Pleasant Road, and the Suicide Stairs. Every day in the summer of 1974 twelve-year-old Gwendy Peterson has taken the stairs, which are held by strong (if time-rusted) iron bolts and zig-zag up the cliffside.
At the top of the stairs, Gwendy catches her breath and listens to the shouts of the kids on the playground. From a bit farther away comes the chink of an aluminum bat hitting a baseball as the Senior League kids practice for the Labor Day charity game.
One day, a stranger calls to Gwendy: “Hey, girl. Come on over here for a bit. We ought to palaver, you and me.”
On a bench in the shade sits a man in black jeans, a black coat like for a suit, and a white shirt unbuttoned at the top. On his head is a small neat black hat. The time will come when Gwendy has nightmares about that hat…
Journey back to Castle Rock again in this chilling new novella by Stephen King, bestselling author of The Bazaar of Bad Dreams, and Richard Chizmar, award-winning author of A Long December.
On the day she was abducted, Annie O’Sullivan, a 32-year-old realtor, had three goals – sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever-patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she’s about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all.
Still Missing interweaves the year Annie spent as the captive of a psychopath in a remote mountain cabin, which unfold through sessions with her psychiatrist, with a second narrative following the events after her escape—her struggle to piece her shattered life back together and the ongoing police investigation into the identity of her captor.
Still Missing is a shocking, visceral, brutal and beautifully crafted novel.
Imagine a helpless, pregnant 16-year-old who’s just been yanked from the serenity of her home and shoved into a dirty van. Kidnapped. Alone. Terrified.
Now forget her …
Picture instead a pregnant, 16-year-old, manipulative prodigy. She is shoved into a dirty van and, from the first moment of her kidnapping, feels a calm desire for two things: to save her unborn son and to exact merciless revenge.
She is methodical, calculating, scientific in her plotting. A clinical sociopath? Leaving nothing to chance, secure in her timing and practice, she waits for the perfect moment to strike. Method 15/33 is what happens when the victim is just as cold as the captors.
The agents trying to find a kidnapped girl have their own frustrations and desires wrapped into this chilling drama. In the twists of intersecting stories, one is left to ponder. Who is the victim? Who is the aggressor?

Thirty-nine-year-old Megan Fallon is in a pickle.
Not only is she suffering from empty-nest syndrome, but she’s lost the job she loved, and her fiancé’s run off with her hairdresser.
A complete life change is what’s called for, so when the opportunity to make a new start presents itself following news of a family celebration, Megan is lured back to her childhood home.
With a party to organise, old friends to catch up with, an ex-husband and his jealous wife to avoid, a mischievous uncle on the lookout for adventure, a clumsy childhood acquaintance who has undergone a startling transformation, and a cantankerous tabby cat to contend with, Megan has her hands full.
However, what started off as a leisurely break soon takes a chilling turn when members of the community start getting bumped off at an alarming rate, and Megan finds herself at the heart of an investigation that has her suspecting everyone.
Could the murderer be the local finance advisor, whose misjudged investment recommendation cost his clients their life savings?
Or maybe the village celebrity; a footballer who appears to have at least one skeleton in a cupboard he’d prefer was kept firmly locked?
Or perhaps it’s a member of a classical music trio who seem to have plenty of secrets they’d rather keep to themselves?
Or is the killer someone else entirely?
As Megan becomes involved in the hunt for a murderer, it’s not long before she finds out that some of the villagers are harbouring other secrets too.
This is a clean mystery read with no strong profanity, violence, or sex.

Somewhere along the way, she’s forgotten that she’s young and beautiful, and that there’s a world outside of work—until she meets the son of the property developer who just acquired the retirement center.
Teddy Prescott has spent the last few years partying, sleeping in late, tattooing himself when bored, and generally not taking life too seriously—something his father, who dreams of grooming Teddy into his successor, can’t understand. When Teddy needs a place to crash, his father seizes the chance to get him to grow up. He’ll let Teddy stay in one of the on-site cottages at the retirement home, but only if he works to earn his keep. Teddy agrees—he can change a few lightbulbs and clip some hedges, no sweat. But Ruthie has plans for Teddy too.
Her two wealthiest and most eccentric residents have just placed an ad (yet another!) seeking a new personal assistant to torment. The women are ninety-year-old, four-foot-tall menaces, and not one of their assistants has lasted a full week. Offering up Teddy seems like a surefire way to get rid of the tall, handsome, unnerving man who won’t stop getting under her skin.
Ruthie doesn’t count on the fact that in Teddy Prescott, the Biddies may have finally met their match. He’ll pick up Chanel gowns from the dry cleaner and cut Big Macs into bite-sized bits. He’ll do repairs around the property, make the residents laugh, and charm the entire villa. He might even remind Ruthie what it’s like to be young and fun again. But when she finds out Teddy’s father’s only fixing up the retirement home to sell it, putting everything she cares about in jeopardy, she’s left wondering if Teddy’s magic was all just a façade.
From the USA Today bestselling author of The Hating Game and 99 Percent Mine comes the clever, funny, and unforgettable story of a muscular, tattooed man hired as an assistant to two old women—under the watchful eye of a beautiful retirement home manager.
