This book is simply stunning inside and out with just as many calming and gorgeous leaves inside the covers as out. As beautiful as it it is, I also found it to be a very thought provoking look at the book of Proverbs and I do feel like I learned a lot from reading this. I do a daily Bible study every morning but this Lent season I was looking for a little bit more and this book provided that for me. Our Daily Journey has the daily Proverb to read plus additional commentary that relates the message to our lives a little more clearly. It also provides some historical context including the actual origin of some of the words that are used in the Bible that I found fascinating. Some of the historical elements did feel a little repetitive by the time we reached the end of the book and I wish they had gone for more of a variety of historical facts since I’m sure they are a plethora of things they could have chosen. Some of the days also included prayers that I found extremely helpful since my prayers are more conversations with God and I enjoyed having something structured. Overall, this is a book that I would love to include in my library and it could even be displayed since it is so beautiful and would be something nice to flip through occasionally now that I have read it.
