WWW Wednesday 1.20.21

This fun weekly meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and all you need to do to participate is answer the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What have you recently finished reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I joined a buddy reading group on Twitter and this week we are reading Hollowpox. I’m currently still working on yesterday’s chapters but I’m so excited to be back in the Nevermoor world. Although I will say that the plot for this one seems very similar to the movie Zootopia and I’m hoping that it differentiates itself soon.

I’m still working my way through Jade City. I’m more than halfway and I’m still really enjoying myself. The pacing is continuing to slow me down but it feels like we are building to some huge event and I can’t wait to see how the ending unfolds!

What have you finished reading?

I initially wasn’t going to post today because I haven’t been reading much but this morning I finished this collection of poetry and I just had to rave about it. I’m now hooked on Jacqueline Woodson and I want to read everything she has ever written. She has such a beautiful mastery of words. Brown Girl Dreaming is actually her memoir of her childhood but it is told completely through poems. Some of the poems deal with some very hard topics and I loved the way the format of the poems was able to convey her emotions regarding certain events. Also the imagery that is central to poetry helped make the people and places she was describing really come to life.

What do you think you’ll read next?

These were my answers for last week and since I just finished Brown Girl Dreaming I will for sure be picking one of them up soon. Hopefully!

  1. Great books! I’ve been meaning to read Jade City for a while but I’ve not heard of City of Villains before – what an interesting concept
