WWW Wednesday 1.13.20

This fun weekly meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and all you need to do to participate is answer the following three questions:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What have you recently finished?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading?

I’m still working my way through Jade City. I’m really enjoying it but the pacing is off which does take me out of the story. There will be a lot of story progression and then it will randomly stop to have an info dump section. Which is helpful to understanding the world better but I wish it was better integrated in the overall story.

In order to not fall into a slump I decided to pick up Brown Girl Dreaming when I’m struggling to pick up Jade City. And I don’t know what rock I have been living under but I had no idea this was a book of poetry. I am completely captivated by Jacqueline Woodson’s writing and I now want to read everything that she has ever written. This book of poetry also serves as a memoir of her life and it is a work of pure genius. I’m halfway through and I keep forcing myself to take breaks so I can savor it a little longer.

What have you recently finished reading?

For the first time since I have started doing these posts I haven’t finished anything in the past week. Which doesn’t bode well for my TBR but I also wanted to be more intentional about reading less and spending more time on my other hobbies.

What do you think you’ll read next?

Both of these are review books so I will definitely have these read by next Wednesday! I’m equally excited about both and I’m expecting them to be four or five star reads.
