This was a fun and cozy romance that delivered on the Fall vibes. Ellie is forced to flee back to her hometown after being fired and dumped in the same day. However it works out perfectly since she is an event planner and her parents desperately need her help with the Harvest Festival that will hopefully keep their inn afloat.
This wasn’t a perfect story but it gave me everything I was looking for. Ellie and Aiden were childhood best friends since they both grew up on the Orchard together. Ellie’s parents run the inn and Aiden’s parents own the property and the apple trees so they always had a a dream of running the place together until they drifted apart in high school. Ellie hasn’t spent a lot of time thinking of Aiden during the years they were apart so she is surprised by his gruff attitude towards her. Seeing them break past their barriers and forge a new friendship while being instantly attracted to each other was one of the high points of this book.
I also loved the Harvest Festival that Ellie is putting together and I would love to go to one in real life. This book also had amazing side characters that really set the tone for future books in this series. I did find parts of this book to be a bit juvenile considering the age of the characters and it did lag at times. However I loved the ending and I’m looking forward to being back in this world (hopefully with a Christmas romance!).
