Progress Report: Summer TBR

Back in May I put together a list of 12 books that I wanted to read this summer. I am proud to say that I only have three books left on that list! Unfortunately, most books I either DNF’d or rated low but I will actually have completed this list by the time summer ends. I am taking a break this month since I am only reading review books but the remaining three will be what I prioritize in the beginning of September.

Currently Reading

I started this the last day of July and I’m currently half way done. Emily Henry writes my favorite romances and this one is no exception.

The DNF’s

I either didn’t enjoy the writing style or story (sometimes both) so I just chose to put them down. I would rather move onto something that keeps my attention than push through something I’m not enjoying.

The Best

I listened to this on audio and I think that is why I loved this as much as I did. It felt like an authentic podcast of this fictional missing person case especially since it was a full cast. The author also self inserted himself as the author of the fictional book so it was a bit meta as well.

2 stars

This is a wild thriller that has a ton of trigger warnings and goes to some dark places. I did read it in less than a day because I couldn’t believe what was happening and wanted to know where the author was going to take the story next. I was planning on giving it three stars but I did’t like the ending so it dropped in rating.

The Remaining

A romance and two thrillers left. Out of the three left the only one I’m nervous about not connecting with is The House We Grew Up In. Lisa Jewell has turned into a hit or miss author for me so fingers crossed this is one I enjoy.
