Happy August 1! It’s also the 7 year anniversary of my blog!! Thank you to WordPress for reminding me that today is the anniversary because it wasn’t even on my radar. However, I think it is appropriate for today’s post because I’m challenging myself this month to post every day. I had all the intentions of jumping back into blogging last month but between leaving town twice and then a devastating fire starting in my town and still barely contained and growing it has been a lot. So I want to try to push myself this month to dive back in. I’m so behind on reviews and other content that I’ve been needing to prioritize this space.
Along with that I’ve decided to dedicate the entirety of this month to ARC August. I started Book Lovers by Emily Henry yesterday so I am planning on picking that up here and there until I finish it but other than that all I’ll be reading is review copies. I have so many amazing books to choose from but I decided to just share five here today that I’m the most excited about and will be prioritizing first this month.
Only One Survives by Hannah Mary McKinnon (7/16/24)
Becoming the star is easier when the rest of your band is dead…
All drummer Vienna Taylor ever wanted was to make music. If that came with fame, she’d take it—as long as her best friend, guitarist Madison Pierce, was sharing the spotlight and singing lead. And with their new all-female pop rock band gaining traction, soon everyone would hear their songs…
Except, on the way to an event, the Bittersweet’s van careened off an icy mountain road during a blizzard—leaving one member dead and another severely injured.
In order to survive the frigid night, the rest took shelter in a nearby abandoned cabin. But Vienna’s dreams devolved into a terrifying nightmare as, one by one, her fellow band members met a gruesome end…and Madison simply vanished in the night.
What really happened to the Bittersweet? Did Vienna’s closest friend finally decide to take center stage on her own terms?
She doesn’t want to believe it.
But guilty people run.
