This weekly meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and all you need to do to participate is answer the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?

This is a story about what happens when people suddenly stop being able to die. And the most interesting part of this book is how people not being able to die affects so many industries. For the first time ever the funeral business is obsolete and they don’t handle it well. There are other industries and people who rely on death (including the mafia) who are not happy and we mostly follow the prime minister as he is trying to appease everyone. It’s a fun little story, 238 pages, and I’m interested to see where it’s going to go.

What have you recently finished?

I really enjoyed My Dark Romeo. I did think the ending was a bit rushed but they were a bit hindered by the story being inspired by Romeo and Juliet. I adored both the characters and I will definitely be reading the other two books in this series.

Dark Matter and I’m Thinking of Ending Things were both three star reads. I honestly thought I would love both of these but they ended up being just ok.

I DNF’d The Tearsmith at 350 pages. This was just so melodramatic and seemed never-ending.

I didn’t write down when I stopped reading The Writing Retreat but I wasn’t enjoying the writing style or the characters. Plus I found the story to be veering on ludicrous which is funny since I did look up spoilers for the rest of the book and I’m very happy I stopped reading when I did.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The new thrilling novel from Megan Miranda, the instant New York Times bestselling author of All the Missing GirlsThe Last to Vanish, and The Only Survivors.

When Hazel Sharp, daughter of Mirror Lake’s longtime local detective, unexpectedly inherits her childhood home, she’s warily drawn back to the town—and people—she left behind almost a decade earlier. But Hazel’s not the only relic of the past to return: a drought has descended on the region, and as the water level in the lake drops, long-hidden secrets begin to emerge…including evidence that may help finally explain the mystery of her mother’s disappearance.
