I’m back today with more books I read back in March. My goal is to be caught up by the middle of June and then I will hopefully stay caught up!

They by Kay Dick was an interestingly told sci fi dystopian novella. I gave this four stars and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories where you are left with many questions and not a lot is explained. It is well written and I would like to read more from her but her other works seem hard to find.
I first read Six Stories a several years ago and when I got into audiobooks I decided I would eventually relisten to this series. I finally got around to listening to the first one and I really enjoyed it. It definitely feels like an authentic podcast and I will eventually listen to the rest. I have read the first five books in this series but I keep dragging my book on the sixth and final book because I don’t want this series to be over. I gave this four stars
The Chestnut Man was a bit of a letdown for me. I did give it three stars but I went into it thinking it would be a five star read. The author is the person behind the tv show, The Killing, which I really enjoyed. Which explains one of my main problems with this book. It was written like a tv show so the pacing was off and some stuff was too over the top for me.
Penance was a dark Japanese thriller about the fallout of a group of girls whose friend was murdered when they were ten. Because they were all hanging out together when the stranger managed to lure their friend away, the mother of the deceased girl blames them in her anger. And from there we follow the girls as they are now adults and how those events have shaped their lives. It was very well done and told in an interweaving and non linear format. I did find it a bit drawn out so I gave it four stars.
I was a big fan of The Flowers of the Killing Moon by David Grann so I wanted to read The Wager by him, especially since it won so many best nonfiction books of the year lists last year. However, this fell a bit flat for me. I gave it four stars because I enjoyed the parts when we actually got on the ship and all the drama that happened on there. But it took way too long to actually get to that point which meant the story got bogged down with a lot of historical information that I didn’t feel was necessary. Obviously, most people did find the information helpful or interesting so this could be a five star read for you.
Murder Road is Simone St. James latest release and it was another great one. No surprise that I gave it four stars but I did really enjoy it. It’s been two months since I read it and I can still recall the entire plot. St. James is the queen of paranormal mysteries and I enjoyed that this one was set in the mid 90’s.
