I’m back with another quick round up of books that I’ve read so far this year.

Happy Place is my current favorite Emily Henry. I have a couple more of her romances to read but this one was perfection for me. I’m someone that hates the miscommunication trope so I put off reading this book but I found it was more a trauma response the way the main characters reacted and I found it very believable. I also LOVED this friend group and I never wanted this book to end.
I’ve already written about my love of The Something is Killing the Children series so it’s no shock that I gave the fifth volume five stars.
Wicked and the Wallflower is the first historical romance that I have read in a long time. I used to devour them but I always get distracted by other things. I thought this one was really fun and I love the premise.
Now onto the darkest reads of the year so far. I honestly don’t recommend any of these books because they are so dark and hard to read. I gave Living Dead Girl five stars because while it was a brutal read I did appreciate the message the author was conveying through the story. To save you the heartache, Elizabeth Scott is showing through the story of a kidnapped and abused girl that so many people had the opportunity to help her if they were just willing to get involved or see behind the facade.
The Summer I Died and its sequel, Born to Bleed were so messed up that I didn’t even rate them. They are classified as extreme horror novels so I did have some idea of what I was getting myself into. But Ryan C. Thomas does too good of a job of making you feel like you are right there with the main character, Roger, that it is a difficult and haunting read. There is another book in this series that I don’t know if I have the nerve to pick up.
