Speed Round Reviews #1

Hi, Welcome to the first in this series where I’m going to give one to two sentence reviews of all the books I haven’t reviewed yet this year. Unless they are books I have through Netgalley and those will get their own dedicated post at some point. I had a hectic March and April so I prioritized reading over blogging but I’m looking forward to being back and *fingers crossed* staying consistent throughout the rest of the year.

There Are No Saints was a fun serial killer dark romance that left off on somewhat of a cliffhanger except for I haven’t felt any burning desire to continue on with the duology. 4 stars.

Heir of Fire (not pictured), book 3 of Throne of Glass, was a huge fail for me. I gave it two stars because the story was unnecessarily long and I don’t connect with any of the characters.

Queen of Shadows, Throne of Glass book 4, was an okay three star read for me. Unfortunately, this series just doesn’t work for me even though it’s a lot of people’s favorites (including my husbands!) but I do want to finish the series to have an understanding of the Maas-verse.

If on Winter’s Night a Traveler is a book that only readers who enjoy putting in work to read a story and don’t mind being confused with enjoy. I thought it was fun and interesting way to tell a story so I gave it four stars.

House of Flame and Shadow was an easy five stars and will definitely be one of my top books of the year. I devoured this book and barely did anything besides read it for the two days it took me.

The Employees was an interesting sci fi that is told in a bunch of anonymous interview excerpts and the story takes shape through them. As I read it was easier to pick out the different narrators but we still never got a firm grip on what was happening or going to happen. I gave this four stars and thought it was pretty successful at what it was trying to do.
