A Mirror Mended is the second (or last) book in the Fractured Fables series. Our main character, Zinnia, has the ability to move between different iterations of the Sleeping Beauty tale where she is able to help save the heroine every time. However, an Evil Queen, from Snow White infamy, has figured out a way to suck her into her story and this novella takes off from there.
Much like the first book in this series, A Spindle Splintered, I absolutely adore Harrow’s take on the classic and familiar fairy tales we grew up with. I believe she studied fairy tales in college and you can tell her mastery of the different versions of the same story told in different countries and times. I also love how she flipped our idea of what makes a villain and how their stories are told.
A Spindle Splintered was more about Zinnia’s journey with her chronic illness and how it affects everything in her life. This book also had similar themes to that but was more of a tale of not running or hiding from life. The banter in this series is also impeccable and I adore how Zinnia handles all the curveballs thrown her way.
If you are looking for a wonderful afternoon read that will make you smile, laugh, and captivate you than look no further than this book. Or go back and read the first one in this series and you will have a delightful couple of afternoons of reading.
