wrap-up

Recent Reads 5/31-6/9

I meant to post a WWW Wednesday to share my recent reads but right when I sat down to write it one of my kids had a freak dental emergency due to a football and I totally forgot all about it. Thankfully it was a baby tooth and we are praying that it didn’t impact the adult tooth at all. Anyways, I wanted to try to keep up with somewhat weekly wrap ups since I hardly ever post monthly wrap ups.

Currently Reading

My IRL bookclub is reading Black Buck. I’m halfway through and won’t pick it back up again until the end of next week so it’s fresh in my mind. This is a fantastic satire on corporate culture, micro aggressions and I’m getting some cult vibes that are pretty interesting. I’m looking forward to seeing how the story wraps up.

Seven Girls Gone is the fourth book in the Quinn & Costa series that I love. Quinn & Costa are part of a FBI task force that is similar to Criminal Minds. Each book is so multi faceted and as lots of unexpected twists and turns.

Recently Finished

Silenced by Serena Akeroyd

Mickey Chambers Shakes it Up by Charish Reid

In Defense of Witches by Mona Chollet

I am so surprised to say that I gave Barbarian Alien five stars. I only gave the first book in the series three stars so I was skeptical about this alien smut series. However, Barbarian Alien blew me away with the emotions and connection between the two main characters. I’m happy that Romanceopoly forced me to read this but I’m also thankful that my next roll is for a contemporary romance.

I’m loving The Heroes of Olympus series so much. This series has more twists and unexpected elements that I love. I also appreciate that we are getting more mythology from other cultures even if I find it confusing to remember the Roman names of the gods.
