This weekly meme is hosted by Sam at Taking on a World on Words. It’s been awhile since I posted one of these so all my books shared will be ones that I have read this month. I recently posted my May wrap up if you’re interested in all the books I read last month.

What are you currently reading?

The Island of Missing Trees is a fantastically written story about a two generations of family set in Greece and England. I saw that this book is rumored to win the Women’s Prize so I wanted to make sure to read it before they announce the winners next week. I would have loved to read more than the one and a half books that I have. I think I will try to read at least a couple more before the Booker Prize longlist is announced next month.

I’m just over a hundred pages into Ducks, Newburyport which isn’t much since this is a very large tome. It comes in at 1020 pages so I’m planning on devoting a lot of time this week to reading a large chunk of this. Ducks, Newburyport is a stream of consciousness novel where we are just following along with every single thought that entires our protagonist’s head. Since I’m such a character driven reader I’m really loving this read since we are getting to know her intimately.

What are have you recently finished?

I really enjoyed Death on the Nile despite already knowing what the ending was going to be almost from the beginning. Of course it’s not the best written book when it comes to the Egyptian people but it was written approximately 90 years ago so I just decided to ignore it.

A Proposal They Can’t Refuse by Natalie Cana

Hades & Persephone is a bind up of three books and I read the last book this month. What I like most about this dark romance series is the world that Amelia Wilde has created. As soon as I finished this one I immediately bought the bind up of Zeus’s trilogy.

I started reading The Book of Cold Cases back in April and I picked it up yesterday and finished it. This one is a very character driven mystery and since I loved the characters, I enjoyed the book. The mystery wraps up pretty early and I kept expecting more but overall it was a great supernatural mystery novel.

What do you think you’ll read next?

One of my goals for this year was to read a Fear Street and a Sweet Valley High book every month and I’m behind on that. The Overnight is the third book in the Fear Street series.
